Neglect
About 70% of children are neglected. What is neglect? neglect is basically a type of maltreatment that refers to the failure by the caregiver to provide needed, age- appropriate care although financially able to do so or offered financial or other means to do so. There can also be different types of neglect. physically, educational, Emotional/ Psychological or medical.
Physical Neglect
When the parents of child don't meet the needs for their children. This can be an endanger to their children's health, well being and growth and development. In some cases this can be lead to child or children abandonment That is where the parents leave their children and carry on with life like nothing happened. It could also mean inadequately supervision or rejection of child and the child will have expulsion to that home. Children can also get an illness, failure to thrive, They can do physical harm to them self. What that means is that they could create harms in forms of cuts, burns or other injuries do to lack of supervision. Children will do this do to their low self-esteem level.
Educational Neglect
Failure to provide schooling for child so parents tried homeschooling but didn't provide them with needs or standards they needed to know. The children will not meet their life skill standard and could cause future disruptive behavior. Educational neglect can create a huge threat to child's well being, physical health or growth and development. Not all home schooling is bad but if the parent is doing homeschooling and cant provide a teacher/ instructor to match child's need so then they do it, they will try to do it and most likely will not meet the needs
Emotional/ Psychological Neglect
This can happen when the parents are engaging in extreme spousal abuse. Allowing the child to bring drugs or alcohol to school. different types of parents emotional neglect are: ignoring, this is where there is constant failure to respond to child. Rejection, when refusing to respond to child's needs. Verbally assaulting, when a parent is constantly threatening child. Isolating, not allowing child to have socializing with others. Terrorizing, when parents threatening child with extreme punishment, or create or terror child with childhood fears. corrupting or exploiting, when parents are engaging in destructive or illegal behavior. When parents do this this leads to children getting involved with drug or alcohol abuse. When this neglect occurs to younger children like infants it could lead to infants death or failure to thrive.
Medical Neglect
Medical neglect is when parent or a guardian fail to provide the child with appropriate health care. This can lead to child being dysfunctional very ill or even dying. Parents could ignore child's health do to: religious believes, fear of medical treatment. Financial issues, But child services will inter fear when the child health if needed.
